In this workshop we will work technically and systematically on so called „pathways“ (CI vocabulary), to experience and understand the underlying principles of this wonderful dance form.
Furthermore we will play with elements from Body-Mind Centering and developmental movement to (re-)discover natural and organic movement qualities, and to find efficient body tone modulation and effortlessness, softness and strength for moving with shared weight.
With different dance scores we create spaces and atmospheres in which technique, playfulness and improvisation can melt into truly multidimensional experiences of falling, flying and momentum.
The systematic approach of this workshop is based on the curriculum of the Contact Improvisation Training Berlin (www.dancecontact.de) and Hamburg. It is meant to prepare and support the festivals.
Daniel and Elske share many years of friendship, uncountable jams and dances. Their mutual fascination for Contact Improvisation provides the center in both their lives. In 2003 they co-founded the ContAct Dance Company, investigating CI as a source for performance work, with a special interest in site-specific art. Both work as independent artists, somatic movement researchers and dancers; both have extensive experience in teaching CI internationally, as well as organizing and facilitating large CI events. They are co-founders of both, the Contact Festival Fuerteventura, since 2009, and the North Sea CI Camp.
Also since 2009 they are co-teaching the CI Training Program in Hamburg/ Germany where they wish to combine their creative energy and interests, support and inspire each other and every single one coming.
